Publications

Each year, the Office of Research and Higher Degrees (ORHD) coordinates the collection of publication data by research staff and students.

The objective of this annual collection is to

Publication categories

USQ collects information on the following publication categories, however only A1, B, C1 and E1 categories enable the University to receive Commonwealth funding.

All publications must be submitted to USQ ePrints.

  • Books:
    A1 – authored research
    A2 – authored other
    A3 – edited book
    A4 – revised edition of a book
  • Book chapters:
    B – authored book chapter
  • Journal articles:
    C1 – refereed research article
    C2 – refereed other article
    C3 – non refereed article
    C4 – letter
  • Conferences:
    E1 – full refereed research paper
    E2 – full non-refereed paper
    E3 – paper extract
    E4 – editorial responsibility for conference publication

It is the responsibility of each faculty and section to ensure that all publications produced by their staff and students are deposited into ePrints to enable the Library and Office of Research and Higher Degrees to verify and validate the publications. 

Submission timelines

Please submit all 2011 publication data to your Faculty Research Office as soon as possible after it has been published and ensure your submission of 2011 publications is completed by Wednesday 29 February 2012.

All 2010 publications are being assessed for commonwealth reporting. Please ensure that any 2010 publications you have not yet entered or 2010 publications which are published before 30 June 2011 are entered into ePrints as soon as possible.

Publication Information Sessions

Information sessions have been held across faculties, departments and centres during February and early March 2011 to ensure that all staff are aware of the changes that have taken place with the merge of USQ's two previous publication systems. The sessions addressed:

  • the reasons for change
  • what was changed
  • changes to current and future workflow arrangements
  • where to go for more information

If you were unable to attend one of these sessions, please ensure you go through the Publication Data Collection presentation (PDF* 1.0 MB) as there are substantial changes taking place for 2011 publications.

ANZSRC Field of Research (FoR) and ANZSRC Socio-Economic Objective (SEO) codes

Feld of Research codes and Socio-Economic Objective codes will assist you in categorising publications according to the field of research undertaken and the socio-economic objectives.
