The Research Leadership Development Program (RLDP) is adapted from a successful program at the University of South Australia that was established to accelerate the trajectory of emerging research leaders. This program is supported through the Australian Government’s Collaborative Research Networks (CRN) program.
The RLDP will develop a cohort of research leaders within the University. An RLDP Program framework is inclusive of identified objectives and learning outcomes. Ten (10) individual RLDP program days will take place every 6 weeks over a 15 month period from May 2013 and other events designed to promote the program.
The program is cohort driven and will be based upon the identified needs and interests of participants drawn from across the University. This is not an off-the-shelf consultant driven leadership development program. Full participation from the successful applicants is mandatory. It is expected that the graduates from this program will drive the University’s research performance into the future.
A total of 18 USQ researchers were successful in the two-staged formal application process. A launch for the RLDP Program was held on 17 April and attended by invited guests.
The RLDP cohort is multi-disciplinary. It is intended that the researchers are introduced to different aspects of research and that the outcomes have coverage that does not disenfranchise any area.
