Policy Coordination

The University governs its operations through government legislation and University statutes, regulations and policies. The Policy and Procedure Framework establishes standards for the management of policy and procedure at USQ.

The Policy and Procedure Library holds copies of all current policies and procedures as well as related resources such as the Policy and Procedure Manual, Style Guide and templates. To locate documents in the Policy and Procedure Library use the search box and enter a key word, or browse by topic or A-Z list.

The governance of the University takes place within a specific statutory framework. At the highest level of that framework is the University of Southern Queensland Act (1998), as amended, which establishes the University as a body corporate, consisting of the Council, the members of staff and the enrolled students.

The Act, statutes and regulations are complemented by policies and procedures that either provide more detailed requirements for practice than specified in the relevant legislation or cover areas of operation not covered in the formal legislation.

A policy is a high level strategic directive that establishes a principle-based approach to a subject. A policy should be adopted for any area of the University's operation where direction or purpose needs to be set in order to conduct University business. A policy is operationalised through procedures which give instructions and set out processes to implement a policy.

Please contact the accountable officer referred to in the policy or procedure for assistance. If you do not know who this is, consider broadly what area the policy may fall into i.e. Human Resources, Financial and Business Services, Academic Division and contact an officer in that area. For all other policy matters, contact the University Policy Coordinator.
