Review
Whilst review at USQ is a cross-organisational imperative, the coordination and monitoring of many of the organisational review functions fall within the responsibilities of the Office of Sustainable Business Management & Improvement. Review and improvement are key drivers for the USQ in the provision of quality assurance to its stakeholders, namely its students, staff, and professional bodies, its community and to the regulatory framework within which the university operates.
Review at USQ forms an integral part of the university’s Quality Management Framework, ensuring that the Improvement aspect of the ADRI cycle is undertaken. It is the continuous improvement cog in the Quality Management Framework wheel.
The aspects of review at USQ include:
- Academic Quality Review Process which is undertaken through Academic Board
- Budget Review Process undertaken through the Budget Management Committee
- Planning Review Process undertaken through a systematic evaluation of achievement of strategic direction as well as performance against key indicators thus providing a rolling, embedded approach in the Planning Framework including planning, monitoring, reporting and review
- Organisational Reviews at USQ are by self-review followed by evaluation. The review process self-evaluation process is conducted with full participation of staff and other stakeholders providing critical self-reflection. A panel evaluates the documents, reflections and conclusions of the self-review. Review Guidelines have been developed and provide standardised practice across the university
- Process Reviews at USQ conducted as part of the University’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality of all its activities. Review Guidelines have been developed and provide standardised practice across the university
- the USQ Audit Process undertakes review and assessment of actions taken to identify and manage the University’s exposure to business risk and corruption and to monitor the development and implementation of measures and strategies to minimise their impact. Outcomes of the auditing schedule are reported to the Audit and Risk Committee of Council
- Performance Management individual plans are reviewed within Faculties and Sections. Senior staff at USQ develop annual plans which are aligned to the organisational strategic direction. Performance management at USQ is an annual process.
Additionally, staff are encouraged as part of the USQ organisational culture to undertake informal review of their work practices and if identified, implement continuous improvement in their delivery.
