Goodna RSL Scholarship
USQ will offer one Goodna RSL Sub-Branch Scholarship to an undergraduate, mature student commencing study on-campus at USQ Springfield in 2010.
Goodna RSL Sub-Branch is a tremendous supporter of the local community through their many events, such as the Jacaranda Festival, and has donated to many local causes in the past. Part of their mission includes supporting their local communities, and the Goodna RSL Sub-Branch Scholarship is one of their new endeavours to continue their unwavering support of the Ipswich/Greater Springfield regions.
Scholarship value
The scholarship will have a maximum value of $3,000. The scholarship will be paid to the recipient in amounts of $750 per enrolled course each semester after the last date to drop courses.
Eligibility
Applicants must:

be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status

start their studies at USQ Springfield on-campus, in Semester One of each year of the scholarship

demonstrate financial need

preferably be an Australian Veteran or a family member of an Australian Veteran (spouse, child, grandchild, etc), as first preference for successful candidates will be given to these groups. In the event no applicants are Australian Veterans or family members of Australian Veterans, the selection committee can award this scholarship to another individual who meets all of the other eligibility requirements.
Conditions

Australian Veterans or family members of Australian Veterans will receive first preference for this scholarship.

Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours each year of their scholarship assisting to promote USQ, as required by the Marketing Department.

The scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external
-
the recipient defers their program of study
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.5.

The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) in equal amounts, based upon the recipient's intention to divide the scholarship over 2 or 3 semesters, after the last date to drop courses for each Semester.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the scholarship in a given year.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Maximum of six short-listed applicants.

One scholarship will be awarded each year to the most outstanding applicant from USQ Springfield.
Selection criteria
Applicants must:
-
have a high level of achievement in any post-secondary studies where possible
-
demonstrate financial hardship by providing supporting documentation
-
live in one of the communities surrounding the USQ Springfield Campus.
Applications
Applicants must complete the USQ Scholarship Application Form (PDF 502 KB) and attach a statement outlining how the scholarship will assist in meeting their career aspirations.
