Bellmaine French Appreciation Travelling Scholarship
In 2012, USQ will offer one Bellmaine French Appreciation Travelling Scholarship to an undergraduate student continuing full-time on campus study at USQ Campus. The Scholarship is awarded in the first Semester to a student pursuing any discipline and has completed at least one year of their degree. Students who have graduated from USQ within the last 12 months are also eligible to apply. The scholarship is intended to go to a student who has a passion to study further education in France and actively participate in the French community.
This scholarship has been created through a bequest left to USQ by the late Mr Keith Bellmaine, a long time financial patron and friend to the University of Southern Queensland. Keith and his late wife Beryl had been involved with USQ for many years and left many wonderful legacies, such as The Bellmaine Wing in the Phoenix Building. Mr Bellmaine had a strong interest in the French culture and he desired to give young students the ability to nurture friendship and communication between Australia and France. The scholarship encourages the winner to further education, while also actively participating in the French community through employment and community activities.
Scholarship value
The student who is awarded the Scholarship will receive a maximum value of $20,000 for the year. This Scholarship is to be used for travel to and from France, accommodation in France and course fees.
