Canon Scholarship

USQ will offer one scholarship to an undergraduate student commencing full-time on-campus study at USQ Toowoomba campus in 2010.

Scholarship Value

Each scholarship will have a value of $8,000. $4,000 will be paid for the first year of the student's studies at USQ, and $4,000 for the second year of the student's studies at USQ. This will be paid in a stipend of $2,000 per semester after the last date to drop Semester One courses, and again for Semester Two courses during both years of the recipient's studies.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
  • start their studies at USQ Toowoomba, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study), on-campus, in Semester One 2010
  • be pursuing a degree in information technology (preferred) or general business
  • demonstrate financial need.

Conditions

  • Undergraduate information technology students will receive first preference for this scholarship, and if a suitable information technology candidate is unavailable, then any undergraduate student seeking a degree from the Faculty of Business can be considered.
  • Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours of their scholarship assisting to promote USQ, as required by Marketing.
  • The scholarship will be forfeited if:
    • the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester
    • the recipient defers their program of study
    • the recipient withdraws from study at USQ
    • the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.
  • The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $2,000 per semester after the last date to drop courses for each Semester.
  • Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
  • USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the scholarship in a given year.
  • Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
  • Maximum of six short-listed applicants.
  • One scholarship will be awarded each year to the most outstanding applicant from Toowoomba.

Selection criteria

Applicants must:

  • have a high level of achievement in Year 12 or other post-secondary studies, as applicable
  • be actively involved in extra-curricular and community activities
  • demonstrate financial hardship by providing supporting documentation
  • be pursuing an undergraduate degree in information technology, or in business if a suitable information technology student can not be identified.

Complete the USQ Scholarship Application Form (PDF* 502 KB) and forward the application to the Scholarships Officer, Student Services, USQ, Toowoomba, QLD 4350.  Applicants completing their year 12 studies in 2009 must also provide a Statement of Support (PDF 643 KB).
