Faculty of Business and Law Year 12 High Achiever Scholarships

The Faculty of Business and Law will offer a number of scholarships for full-time on-campus students enrolling in any undergraduate degree program offered by the Faculty of Business and Law in 2012. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward students for their excellent academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership qualities, community involvement and personal characteristics. To be eligible for this scholarship, students will normally undertake a minimum of three courses within a Faculty of Business and Law program in Semester 1 and Semester 2 respectively. The scholarships are awarded across the Toowoomba, Springfield and Fraser Coast campuses.

Scholarship value

The successful applicants who are undertaking a full three year undergraduate degree will receive a scholarship to the value of $9,000 throughout the duration of their program at USQ. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend of $1,500 after the last date to drop courses in Semester 1 and Semester 2 for a maximum of three years.

The successful applicants who are undertaking a full four year undergraduate degree will receive a scholarship to the value of $12,000 for the duration of their program at USQ. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend of $1,500 after the last date to drop courses in Semester 1 and Semester 2 for a maximum of four years.

The successful applicants who are undertaking a full five year undergraduate degree will receive a scholarship to the value of $15,000 throughout the duration of their program at USQ. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend of $1,500 after the last date to drop courses in Semester 1 and Semester 2 for a maximum of five years.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
  • have completed Year 12 within the last three years
  • commence their studies, full-time on-campus, in Semester 1, 2012.

Conditions

  • Applicants enrolled in an undergraduate degree offered by the Faculty of Business and Law are eligible for the scholarships
  • Applicants must undertake a minimum of three courses in Semester 1 and Semester 2 respectively
  • The scholarship may be forfeited if:
    • the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or from full-time to part-time study
    • the recipient changes their program of study to a program offered by another Faculty
    • the recipient cancels their enrolment in the program
    • the recipient fails any course in the program
  • Where recipients of scholarships change their program of study to another degree program offered by the Faculty of Business and Law, the scholarship will be retained. However, payments will be adjusted according to the length of the program if it differs from the original program
  • The scholarship will be paid directly to the student as a stipend according to the duration of their program
  • The scholarship recipients may be required to participate in a limited number of promotional activities on behalf of the Faculty and the University during the duration of their scholarship
  • The Faculty reserves the right to take into account other relevant matters
  • Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances
  • The Faculty reserves the right not to award scholarships in a given year.

Selection criteria

Applicants must:

  • have applied for enrolment in a undergraduate degree offered by the Faculty of Business
  • have achieved an OP 1-6 in Year 12
  • demonstrated excellent academic or non-academic achievement. Non-academic achievement could include community involvement, leadership qualities, extracurricular activities, etc
  • have met the pre-requisite requirements for entry into their program
  • meet the eligibility requirements outlined above.

  • complete and submit an application in writing by the closing date on the USQ Scholarship Application Form (158*KB)
  • attach a Statement of Support (PDF* 162 KB) completed by either your School Principal, Subject Coordinator or other appropriate referee
  • write a one-page statement in relation to why you wish to pursue a career in business and how you believe your academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership qualities, community involvement and personal characteristics will contribute to your future success in business.

Closing date

Applications for this Scholarship must be received  by 5.00pm Friday 28 October 2011, for Semester 1, 2012.

Short listed applicants will be required to participate in an interview.
