Joyce Campbell Lloyd Scholarship
Joyce Lloyd (1916-2004) was born in Brisbane, working as a journalist and radio broadcaster in Australia, before moving to England where she worked for the BBC and spent 20 years as a county magistrate presiding in criminal and family courts. During her years abroad she travelled widely, visiting Europe's major cultural centres and developing a love of the arts and classical music in particular. Together with her husband, distinguished aeronautical engineer and mountaineer Peter Lloyd, she set up the Tilford Bach Society in Surrey. Whilst residing in Toowoomba, Mrs Lloyd established the Joyce Campbell Lloyd Scholarship in 1998 (with funds from her Campbell family inheritance) to give outstanding musical graduates from the University of Southern Queensland the opportunity to travel overseas to further develop their careers.
