Morrison Lawyers Law Scholarship
USQ will in 2009 offer one Morrison Lawyers Law Scholarship to an undergraduate student in their 2nd or 3rd year of a Law or combined degree of Business and Law, full-time on campus at USQ Springfield.
Morrison Lawyers is an Ipswich firm which has been operating for a number of years in the greater Ipswich region. The firm specializes in the areas of Family Law, Wills, Estates, and Business Law.
Scholarship Value
The scholarship will have a value of $3,000 for a year at USQ Springfield. The scholarship will be paid in a stipend of $1,500 per semester after the last date to drop Semester One courses and again for Semester Two courses.
In addition, the successful applicant will be asked to complete 5 days of work experience with Morrison Lawyers. The dates for this work experience will be mutually agreed upon by the recipient of the scholarship and the donor of this scholarship.
Eligibility

Applicants must:
-
be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;
-
be enrolled in a bachelor degree in Law or in a combined Business and Law degree;

be in their second or third year of study in 2009;
-
be enrolled on-campus at USQ Springfield, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study);
-
live in the Greater Ipswich, Gatton or Lockyer Valley regions.
Conditions
-
The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $1,500 per semester after the last date to drop courses for each Semester.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

Successful applicants will have obtained an OP 5 or better or achieved at least a 5.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in their earlier university studies.

USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the scholarship in a given year.

The scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester;
-
the recipient defers their program of study;
-
the recipient changes their degree program outside of Law
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ; or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0

Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours each year of their scholarship assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Maximum of six short-listed applicants.

Recipients will be asked to work 5 days with Morrison Lawyers at a time mutually agreed upon by the scholarship recipient and donor.

One scholarship will be awarded each year to the most outstanding applicant from USQ Springfield campus.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
-
have a high level of achievement in Year 12 or other post-secondary studies as applicable;

been actively involved in extra-curricular and community activities; and
-
meet the eligibility requirements of this scholarship.
