Scholarship value

The students who are awarded the scholarships receive $2,850 each and 40 days of work experience for the year.  During this time they gain experience in a real workplace environment, and can improve their inter-personal skills.

We offer two Scholarships per year. The scholarships are awarded in the second semester to one second year and one third year student of Commerce and Business degrees (with an Accounting major) as well as combined studies in Commerce with IT.  Employment is not guaranteed at the end of the Scholarship period however it is likely that you may be offered a full time position within our company.  Degree requirements and other important information can be found on the Ambrosiussen Accountants & Advisors Pty Ltd website.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be studying the Bachelor of Commerce in their second or third year of study
  • have demonstrated past involvement in community activities (eg part-time work or other social or cultural activities)
  • articulate in their written statement a desire to contribute to the business community and specifically accounting.
  • have a strong intellectual ability witnessed by a high Grade Point Average;
  • have good communication skills - both verbal and written;
  • have a keen interest in applied accounting;
  • exhibit drive and a strong work ethic;
  • be team-oriented, and able to relate well to others;
  • be teachable and responsive to direction; and
  • have a desire to stay in Toowoomba

Conditions

  • The scholarship will be forfeited if:
    • the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than four study units per semester for the scholarship period, unless exceptional circumstances prevent full time study
    • the recipient defers their program of study during the scholarship period
    • the recipient withdraws from study at USQ
      or
    • the recipient fails to maintain a pass Grade Point Average (GPA) during the scholarship period.
  • Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
  • Ambrosiussen Accountants Pty Ltd and USQ reserve the right to not award the scholarships in a given year if the applications are not deemed to be suitable.
  • Applications must be received in writing.
  • Two scholarships will be awarded to the applicants deemed most outstanding by the scholarship selection panel. The decision of the panel is final.
  • The maximum value of these two scholarships is $2,850 each.

Closing Date

To be considered for a Scholarship commencing Semester 2, 2009, applications are due by 15 May 2009. Please note late applications will be considered if both scholarships for Semester 2, 2009 are not awarded.  Check with the Faculty of Business prior to lodging a late application.
