Condon Charles Lawyers Scholarship
In 2010, USQ will offer one Condon Charles Lawyers Scholarship to a USQ Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor student, who is in the final year of full-time, on campus study at USQ Toowoomba Campus.
Scholarship Value
The scholarship will have a value of $5,000 for the final year of the student's studies at USQ Toowoomba. The scholarship will be paid in a stipend of $2,500 per semester after the last date to drop Semester One courses and again for Semester Two courses.
In addition, the successful applicant will be asked to complete 5 days of work experience with Condon Charles Lawyers in the year they receive this scholarship. The dates for this work experience will be mutually agreed upon by the recipient and the Donor.
Eligibility
Applicants must:

be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;

be in their final year studies at USQ, full-time, on-campus, in Toowoomba, beginning Semester One 2010;

student must be pursuing a degree in Law at USQ Toowoomba Campus;

must submit a brief essay (800 words) explaining how this Scholarship will assist them to achieve their future plans in family law or commercial & estate planning

must demonstrate a history of involvement with their local community in any social / sporting / educational / charitable context
Conditions

The Scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $2,500 per semester after the last date to drop courses for each Semester.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the Scholarship in a given year.

The Scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external,
-
the recipient defers their program of study;
-
the recipient changes their degree program outside of Law degree programs
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ; or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0

Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours each year of their scholarship assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

Scholarship recipients will be required to have a photograph with the Donor and may be required to have a story written about them and their scholarship for the sole purpose of marketing and promotion of the Donor.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Maximum of six short-listed applicants.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
-
be in their final year of a Bachelor of Laws Degree or Juris Doctor at USQ

must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Law
-
have strong interest and desire to practise in family law or commercial, or estate planning

Applicants must complete the USQ Scholarship Application Form and forward the application to the Scholarship Officer, Student Services, USQ, Toowoomba, QLD 4350.

Application for 2010 scholarships must be received by 30 October 2009.
