USQ Equity Scholarships

USQ will award over 75 Equity Scholarships to commencing and continuing undergraduate students studying full-time (3-4 courses/semester) in 2009, except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study.

The USQ Equity Scholarships aim is to assist:

  • rural and regional students
  • those experiencing financial hardship
  • Indigenous Australians
  • those from Non-English Speaking Backgrounds (NESB)
  • students with a disability
  • students enrolled in non-traditional areas of study, based on gender.

This is a merit-based, non-repayable scheme and targets students experiencing financial hardship.  Scholarships are awarded to Australian citizens or holders of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa on a competitive basis, and do not need to be repaid.

Scholarship value

The scheme provides for two different award options:
1. a new laptop computer (minimum software provided) OR
2. $750 book bursary (USQ Bookshop).

Commonwealth Scholarships

Your application for a USQ Equity Scholarship will automatically cover the Commonwealth Scholarships as well.  More information on Commonwealth Scholarships may be found at:  http://www.usq.edu.au/scholarships/cls.htm

How to apply in 2009

Applications for the USQ Equity Scholarships and Commonwealth Scholarships are made online via QTAC.

Commencing students  must lodge their QTAC application for admission to tertiary study and, if they believe they are eligible, lodge a Scholarship application. Please note: the scholarship application is an optional and separate application; it is not required for consideration of a tertiary place. Your application for a scholarship will not affect your QTAC application for tertiary study. You are not obliged to submit a scholarship application.

USQ Equity Scholarships- 2010

The application process for USQ Equity Scholarships is expected to change in 2010. As updated information regarding the application process for 2010 becomes available it will be posted on the USQ Scholarships website.

How will I know if I get a USQ Equity or Commonwealth scholarship?

If you are successful, you will receive a "conditional" scholarship offer from QTAC. . You  will then be asked to submit documentation supporting your scholarship application to USQ. Supporting documentation and material is not sent to QTAC.  If you do not supply supporting documentation which matches the information you have submitted in your scholarship application, your scholarship offer will be withdrawn. If you wish to appeal a scholarship decision, please direct your enquiry to the USQ Scholarships Officer.
