Land Partners GPIS & Surveying Scholarship
USQ will in 2009 offer one LandPartners GPIS & Surveying Scholarships to undergraduate students in their second or third year of full-time on campus study at USQ pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Spatial Science or Spatial Science Technology majoring in GPIS & Surveying.
Scholarship Value
Each Scholarship will have a value of $2,500 for one year of the student's studies at USQ. This will be paid in a stipend of $1,250 per semester after the last date to drop Semester One courses and again for Semester Two courses.
In addition, each successful applicant will be asked to engage in five days of work experience at LandPartners in Brisbane. The dates for this work experience will be mutually agreed upon by the recipient of the Scholarship and the Donor of this Scholarship.
Eligibility
Applicants must:

be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;

be entering their 2nd or 3rd year of studies at USQ, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study), on-campus, beginning Semester One 2009;

student must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in GPIS & Surveying at USQ.
Conditions

The Scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $1,250 per semester after the last date to drop courses for each Semester.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the Scholarship in a given year.

The Scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester;
-
the recipient defers their program of study;
-
the recipient changes their degree program outside of Spatial Science or Spatial Science Technology
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ; or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0

Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours each year of their scholarship assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Maximum of six short-listed applicants.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
-
have a high level of achievement in their previous USQ studies (5.5 GPA or higher);

been actively involved in extra-curricular and community activities;
-
must meet the eligibility requirements of this Scholarship;

submit a brief essay explaining how this Scholarship will assist them to achieve their future plans.
