Zonta Women in Engineering Scholarship
USQ will in 2009, offer one Zonta Club of West Moreton Area Women in Engineering Scholarship to an undergraduate student entering their second year of full-time on campus study in Engineering at USQ Springfield.
Scholarship Value
Each scholarship will have a value of $500, payable to the student in the first semester of their second year after the last date to drop Semester One courses.
Eligibility
Applicants must:

be female;
-
be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;

start their second year of studies at USQ Springfield, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study), on-campus, in Semester One;

student must be pursuing a degree in Engineering.
Conditions

Undergraduate engineering students will receive first preference for this scholarship, and if a suitable engineering candidate is unavailable, the committee may open the scholarship up to a student pursuing any undergraduate degree from the Faculties of Engineering or Science.

Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours each year of their scholarship assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

Scholarship recipients shall attend 1 Donor meeting in the semester in which the Scholarship is awarded and speak on a topic to be agreed with the Donor.

The scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester;

the recipient defers their program of study;
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ; or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a pass level Grade Point Average (GPA).

The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $500 after the last date to drop courses for Semester One.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the scholarship in a given year.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Maximum of six short-listed applicants.

One scholarship will be awarded each year to the most outstanding applicant from Springfield.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:

meet the eligibility requirements of this scholarship

be pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering, or in science if a suitable engineering student can not be identified.
