Lennon Psychology Bursary
Bursary
Lennon Psychology will make available a Bursary to encourage continuation of study in a Psychology Degree program at USQ Springfield. The bursary is awarded to a student entering the third or fourth year of full-time on-campus study at USQ Springfield in 2010, who can demonstrate an active commitment to their studies in psychology through engagement with the community.
Bursary value
The Lennon Psychology Bursary will have a total annual value of $1,000 and will support the recipient for one year of their studies. In addition, the successful applicant may be offered a professional work experience placement of 40 hours at Lennon Psychology for the year as mutually arranged. Here students have the opportunity to gain invaluable real life experience in an established Psychology clinic.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;
- be a current student studying Psychology full-time, on-campus, at USQ Springfield campus;
- have an overall grade point average (GPA) of at least 4.5
- submit a brief statement (one page max) about their career aspirations as outlined in selection criteria;
- be entering in their third or fourth year of studies in their Psychology degree for Semester One 2010.
Conditions
- The Bursary will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a lump sum payment of $1,000 for the year after the last date to drop courses for semester one.
- The duration of the Bursary is for one year.
- Applications must be received by the closing date and in writing.
- The Bursary recipient may be asked to participate in 40 hours work experience as mutually agreed upon between Lennon Psychology and the Bursary recipient within the year of the Bursary.
- Bursary recipients may be asked to serve 20 hours each year of their Bursary assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.
- Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
- Maximum of three short-listed applicants.
- Bursaries are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
- The Bursary will be forfeited if, during the Bursary period, the recipient;
- changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than four study units per semester, unless exceptional circumstances prevent full time study;
- defers their program of study;
- withdraws from study at USQ;
- changes their program outside of Psychology;
- fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.5.
- One Bursary will be awarded each year to the applicants deemed most outstanding by the USQ’s short listing selection criteria process and Lennon Psychology. The decision of USQ and Lennon Psychology is final.
- Lennon Psychology and USQ reserve the right to not award the Bursary in a given year.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
- meet the eligibility requirements outlined above;
- in their written statement (maximum one page);
- describe their career aims and goals
- outline their history of volunteer, extracurricular, community involvement activities and work experience that they relate to psychology; and
- describe ways in which they engage with the profession of psychology
