Inner Wheel Nursing Bursary
USQ will in 2009 offer one Inner Wheel Club of Hervey Bay Nursing Bursary to an undergraduate student entering their second or third year of full-time on campus study in Nursing at USQ Fraser Coast.
Bursary Value
Each bursary will have a value of $200; payable to the student in the first semester of the year they receive the bursary after the last date to drop Semester One courses.
Eligibility
Applicants must:

be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;

must be a mature age female student pursuing a degree in Nursing;

start their second or third year of studies at USQ Fraser Coast, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study), on-campus, in Semester One;

demonstrate financial need.
Conditions

Bursary recipients may be asked to serve 5 hours each year of their Bursary assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

The Bursary will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester;

the recipient defers their program of study;
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ; or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.5

The Bursary will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $200 after the last date to drop courses for Semester One.

Bursaries are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the Bursary in a given year.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Maximum of six short-listed applicants.

One Bursary will be awarded each year to the most outstanding applicant from Fraser Coast.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
-
demonstrate financial hardship by providing supporting documentation;
-
meet eligibility criteria;
-
be willing to speak informally and briefly about their nursing studies and challenges faced at a meeting of the Inner Wheel Club (as arranged by club and recipient)
