Inner Wheel Nursing Bursary

USQ will in 2009 offer one Inner Wheel Club of Hervey Bay Nursing Bursary to an undergraduate student entering their second or third year of full-time on campus study in Nursing at USQ Fraser Coast.

Bursary Value

Each bursary will have a value of $200; payable to the student in the first semester of the year they receive the bursary after the last date to drop Semester One courses.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;
  • must be a mature age female student pursuing a degree in Nursing;
  • start their second or third year of studies at USQ Fraser Coast, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study), on-campus, in Semester One;
  • demonstrate financial need.

Conditions

  • Bursary recipients may be asked to serve 5 hours each year of their Bursary assisting to promote USQ as required by the Marketing and Public Relations Department.
  • The Bursary will be forfeited if:
    • the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester;
    • the recipient defers their program of study;
    • the recipient withdraws from study at USQ; or
    • the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.5
  • The Bursary will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $200 after the last date to drop courses for Semester One.
  • Bursaries are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
  • USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the Bursary in a given year.
  • Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
  • Maximum of six short-listed applicants.
  • One Bursary will be awarded each year to the most outstanding applicant from Fraser Coast.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

  • demonstrate financial hardship by providing supporting documentation;
  • meet eligibility criteria;
  • be willing to speak informally and briefly about their nursing studies and challenges faced at a meeting of the Inner Wheel Club (as arranged by club and recipient)
