Sinnathamby Continuing Student Scholarship

USQ will offer one Sinnathamby Continuing Student Scholarship to a student who is enrolled in full-time, on campus study in the second year of a bachelor’s degree program at USQ Springfield Campus in 2009.

Scholarship value

The Scholarship will have a maximum value of $15,600 and will be paid to the recipient in the amount of $650 per enrolled course each semester after the last date to drop courses.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status;
• have completed at least 8 USQ courses in their degree program before receiving this scholarship; and
• have maintained at least a 5.5 cumulative grade point average.

Conditions

• The scholarship will be forfeited if either:
  • the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester
  • the recipient defers their program of study
  • the recipient withdraws from study at USQ
    or
  • the recipient fails to maintain a GPA of at least 5.5.
• The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $650 per course after the last date to drop courses for each Semester.
• The scholarship is not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
• USQ reserves the right to not award the scholarship.
• Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
• Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve up to 20 hours each year of their scholarship assisting to promote Springfield Education City and USQ.
  

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

• meet the eligibility requirements for this scholarship and
• be a resident of the Greater Springfield area and
• have been actively involved in extra-curricular and community activities and
• provide evidence of financial hardship.
