Faculty of Education International Postgraduate Scholarship

The Faculty of Education will offer four scholarships to commencing international students who intend to undertake a Masters of Education degree fulltime, on-campus* at USQ in Toowoomba commencing in Semester 1, 2010.

Scholarship value

Each scholarship will have a value of AUD1000 which will be credited towards the student's account. The credit will appear in the student's second semester of study, after official results are released for the first semester of study.

Eligibility

To be considered for a scholarship applicants must:

  • be an international student; and
  • be applying to enrol in the Masters of Education program majoring in TSL/TESOL, and
  • have attained a high level of academic achievement in their undergraduate degree; and
  • be commencing full-time, on-campus* study at the Toowoomba Campus.
  • have obtained an IELTS level of 6.5 with no subset of less than 6.0, within the last two years.

*Note: A full-time load consists of four courses per semester. Up to two courses (one course per semester) may be taken in online mode within the Masters of Education program.

Conditions

  • Applications must be received by the closing date and in writing on the USQ application form provided.
  • Students must not be currently studying at USQ in conjunction with any other USQ scholarship.
  • Scholarships are not redeemable for cash.
  • The scholarship will be forfeited if:
    • the recipient changes their program of study to a program offered by another Faculty or University. (Note: Where a scholarship recipient changes their program of study to another Masters program offered on-campus by the Faculty of Education - excluding the Master of Learning and Development - the scholarship will be retained.)
    • the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to online or distance.
    • the recipient cancels their enrolment in the program.
    • the recipient completes less than four courses over the Semester.
    • the recipient fails any course in the program.
  • Scholarships are not transferable to a third party under any circumstances.
  • USQ reserves the right not to award the Scholarship in a given year.
  • Scholarships may be withdrawn with 10 days written notice should the recipient breach any of these conditions.
  • Terms and conditions may be changed at any time and the University will provide 12 weeks notice to all scholarship recipients.

Note: It is an expectation that all visa requirements will have been met prior to commencement of study at USQ.

Selection criteria

Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the University. Selection is carried out by a panel and previous academic performance will be taken into consideration.

Closing Dates

The last date to receive applications for Semester 1, 2010 is Friday 18 December 2009.

Applications for Semester 1, 2011 study will open in July 2010.
