Elite Athlete Scholarships
USQ will offer two scholarships in 2010 to students studying at USQ who are registered or eligible to register as a member of the USQ Elite Athlete Program. These scholarships will be awarded to:
Scholarship Value
Each scholarship will have a value of $1,000. This will be paid in a stipend of $250 per study unit in 2010.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
-
be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
-
be admitted to or be eligible for admittance to the USQ Elite Athlete Program
-
begin their study at USQ in Semester 1 2010 in a bachelor degree program; or be currently enrolled in a degree program at USQ in 2009
-
undertake a minimum of four study units during the 2010 academic year.
Conditions

The maximum value of this scholarship is $1,000
-
The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $250 per study unit after the last date to drop Semester One courses, and again for Semester Two courses and Semester Three (Summer Semester) courses, if applicable

The scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient does not complete a minimum of four
study units per year
-
the recipient defers their program of study
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.5.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances
-
USQ reserves the right to not award all or some of the scholarships in a given year
-
Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
Selection criteria
Applicants must:
-
by commencement date of Semester 1 2010, be admitted to the USQ Elite Athletes Program
-
have been actively involved in community activities and made a significant contribution to their community or school
-
demonstrate sound level of academic achievement in Year 12 or post secondary studies; or have a high level of achievement in their USQ studies to date with a minimum GPA of 4.5.
Applications
To ensure the selection criteria have been met, applicants must provide:

A one page statement addressing why they wish to pursue their chosen career (outside of sport) and how they believe their academic achievement, community involvement and personal characteristics will
contribute to their future success.

Applicants who wish to have financial hardship taken into consideration must attach supporting documentary evidence.
