Elite Athlete Scholarships
USQ will offer two scholarships in 2012 to students studying at USQ who are registered or eligible to register as a member of the USQ Elite Athlete Program. These scholarships will be awarded to:
Scholarship value
Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $1,000. This will be paid in a stipend of $250 per study unit in 2012.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
-
be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
-
be admitted to or be eligible for admittance to the USQ Elite Athlete Program
-
start their study at USQ in Semester 1, 2012 in a bachelor degree program; or be currently enrolled in a bachelor degree program at USQ in 2011
-
undertake a minimum of four study units during the 2012 academic year.
Conditions
- Applications must be received by the closing date and in writing on the USQ application form provided.
- The duration of the scholarship is for one year.
- Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
- The scholarship will be forfeited if the recipient:

the recipient does not complete a minimum of four study units per year
-
the recipient defers their program of study
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ or
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.5.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances

Two Scholarships will be awarded each year to the applicants deemed most deserving by the Scholarship selection panel. The decision of the panel is final.

USQ reserve the right to alter the conditions of the Scholarship based upon exceptional circumstances.
- USQ reserves the right to not award either of the scholarships in a given year.
Payment
- The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient in a nominated bank account, by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $250 per study unit after the Census date (the last date to drop courses for each semester).
- Payment of subsequent instalments will be subject to satisfactory progress in the recipient's study program. In this case, recipients may be required to show cause for why the scholarship should not be cancelled.
Selection criteria
Applicants must:
-
by commencement date of Semester 1, 2012, be admitted to the USQ Elite Athletes Program
-
have been actively involved in community activities and made a significant contribution to their community or school
-
demonstrate sound level of academic achievement in Year 12 or post secondary studies; or have a high level of achievement in their USQ studies to date with a minimum GPA of 4.5

meet the eligibility requirements outlined above.

Students studying with USQ in 2011 must complete the USQ Continuing Students Scholarship Application Form (PDF* 83KB)

All applicants must also provide:
- A one page statement addressing why they wish to pursue their chosen career (outside of sport) and how they believe their academic achievement, community involvement and personal characteristics will
contribute to their future success.

Applicants who wish to have
financial hardship taken into consideration must attach supporting documentary evidence.
