Who can apply for scholarships?
Students can apply for any scholarship for which they meet the eligibility criteria. All scholarships have their own individual eligibility criteria and students should read the eligibility critiera to before lodging an application.
Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
You are welcome to apply for as many scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria. You will need to complete a separate application form for each scholarship. Documents you provide in support of your application must be copied and attached to each application form.
How do I apply for scholarships?
Scholarship application forms can be downloaded from the USQ Scholarships website. Toward the end of the information for each individual Scholarship you will find the correct application form for that specific scholarship. The appropriate application form needs to be completed and submitted, along with relevant supporting documentation to the address on application form.
What is the application closing date?
The application closing date is the date that scholarship applications must be received by USQ. If you are mailing your scholarship application, please allow enough time for posting and delays.
How am I notified of the outcome of my application?
Successful and unsuccessful applicants are sent a letter advising them the outcome of their application via post.
What if I'm offered more than one scholarship?
Applicants may accept only one USQ scholarship. If offered more than one, applicants should choose which USQ scholarship to accept.
However, there are some exceptions. In addition to a USQ scholarship, applicants may also accept a:

USQ Equity Scholarship.
If I defer my program, can I defer my scholarship?
Generally, no. It is important to contact your relevant Faculty before you defer your program, as some program-specific scholarships may be able to be deferred.
I have lodged my application with QTAC and not included USQ in my preferences. Can I still apply for a USQ scholarship?
Yes, but you will need to contact QTAC and change your preferences to include USQ.
What documents should I attach to show financial hardship?
This is a combination of material that helps to accurately show that you and your family have difficulty funding your tertiary study due to financial constraints.
These documents could include:

certified copies of your health care card, or your pension concession card

documentation which proves that you receive Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY or another means-tested government benefit

an employer's statement of your income and earnings

a taxation return for the previous financial year

a copy of your parents' Family Tax Benefit statement if you are dependent and under 25.
All information and documentation supplied by you will be treated confidentially. It will only be disclosed to those people who are involved in the selection process.
Is my scholarship considered income by the Australian Government?
From January 2012, Centrelink may not consider scholarships as income. Students should speak to Centrelink to determine the impact of a scholarship on your individual Centrelink entitlements.
The Australian Taxation Office generally exempts scholarships from tax. Further information is available from the Australian Taxation Office. All scholarships paid by USQ are generally tax exempt and students will not receive a Payment Summary for these payments.
What are the Conditions associated with holding a USQ Scholarship?
Conditions of Scholarships vary; however, they will be clearly outlined in the scholarship offer letter to successful applicants. You will need to ensure that you understand the conditions of your scholarship as part of the scholarship acceptance process.
When are Scholarship payments made?
All Scholarship payments are made after the Census Date (the last date to drop courses without financial penalty) for the Semester concerned.
How are Scholarship payments made?
Scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient in a nominated bank account, by electronic funds transfer (EFT).
Scholarships that come in the form of a Book Bursary will receive notification after the Census Date (last date to drop courses without financial penalty) that their Account at the USQ Bookshop may be accessed.
