Wonderley & Hall Law Scholarship
USQ will offer two Wonderley & Hall Commencing Law Scholarships to students who enrol in full-time, on-campus study in a Bachelor of Laws degree program or Juris Doctor program at USQ Toowoomba Campus commencing in 2009.
Scholarship Value
Each Wonderley & Hall Commencing Law Scholarship will have a maximum value of $5,000, and will be awarded to a student enrolling in a USQ Toowoomba Law program beginning in 2009.
These scholarships will be in the amounts of $2,500 for semester one and $2,500 for semester two, and will be paid each semester after the Census Date. “Census Date” means the cut-off date in a semester in each USQ Academic Year by which a student may drop a course without penalty.
Eligibility
Applicants must:

be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
-
enrol full-time USQ Toowoomba, in a law degree, in Semester One 2009
-
demonstrate a high level of academic achievement (OP 1 – 5 or equivalent)
-
have been actively involved in extra-curricular and community activities.
Conditions

The scholarship will be forfeited if:
-
the recipient changes their mode of study from on-campus to external or enrols in less than three study units per semester
-
the recipient defers their program of study
-
the recipient withdraws from study at USQ
-
the recipient fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.

The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $2,500 per semester after the Census Date for each Semester.

Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.

USQ reserves the right to not award the scholarship.

Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.

Scholarship recipients may be asked to serve up to 20 hours each year of their scholarship, assisting to promote USQ.
Selection criteria
Applicants must:

have achieved an OP 1 - 5 (or equivalent for interstate applicants) or have a high level of achievement in other post-secondary studies

have been actively involved in extra-curricular and community activities
-
provide a 500 word essay discussing your career aspirations
-
meet the eligibility requirements for this scholarship.

To apply for this scholarship, you must forward a completed USQ Scholarship Application Form 2008 (PDF 122 KB) to the Scholarships Officer, Student Services, University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba QLD 4350.
Applicants completing their year 12 studies must also provide a Statement of Support (PDF 262 KB). Applications close Friday 31 October 2008.
