Faculty of Business Postgraduate Equity scholarships
The Faculty of Business and Law will offer a number of Equity scholarships for on-campus or external students enrolled in or enrolling in any Faculty of Business postgraduate coursework degree for Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2012. The scholarships are awarded across the Toowoomba, Springfield and Fraser Coast campuses.
Scholarship value
Each scholarship for postgraduate course work programs with eight or less courses will have a value of $1,250.
Each scholarship for postgraduate coursework degrees which have in excess of eight courses will have a maximum value of up to $5,000.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be a citizen of Australia or have permanent resident statusor be an international student studying on-campus
- commence or continue their postgraduate studies in the Faculty of Business, on-campus or external, in Semester 1 or Semester 2, 2012 and have enrolled in or are enrolling in the following program types: postgraduate coursework Masters Degree, Juris Doctor or Postgraduate Certificate in Business program offered by the Faculty of Business and Law.
Payment
For recipient's enrolled in a postgraduate coursework program with eight or less courses will have a maximum value of $1,250.
- The funds will be credited as a single amount to the recipient's USQ student account as a contribution towards their tuition after the last date to drop courses in the respective Semester.
For recipient's enrolled in a postgraduate coursework program which have in excess of eight courses will have a maximum value of $5,000.
- The first instalment of $1,250 will be credited to the recipient's USQ student account as a contribution towards their tuition after the last date to drop courses in the respective Semester
- The subsequent three instalments of $1,250 per semester will be credited to the recipient's USQ student account as a contribution towards their tuition after the last date to drop courses in the respective Semester.
- Payment of the 2nd and subsequent instalments will be subject to the satisfactory progress in the recipient's study program.
- Eligibility for payments based on study undertaken in Semester 3 will be reviewed in Semester 1 the following year, based on an assessment of the student's progress in their program.
Conditions
- The scholarship will be forfeited if:
- the recipient changes their program of study to a program offered by another Faculty
- the recipient cancels their enrolment in the program
- the recipient fails any course in the program
- Where recipients of scholarships change their program of study to another postgraduate degree program offered by the Faculty of Business and Law, the scholarship will be retained
- Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances
- The Faculty of Business and Law reserves the right not to award scholarships in a given year.
Selection criteria
Applicants must:
- meet the eligibility requirements outlined above
- provide information about financial hardship, personal circumstances and academic standing. Students can also demonstrate financial hardship by providing information about personal circumstances that influence their study
- maintain a passing Grade Point Average (GPA), however, the scholarship is not primarily based on academic achievement. A passing GPA is based on a minimum of 4 Grade Points. A GPA is the average of the numerical value of all final grades, except P and SP, obtained by students in all graded courses accredited towards an academic program, weighted by the unit value of each of those courses.
