USQ Master of Education Scholarship

The Faculty of Education will offer scholarships for students commencing a Master of Education degree program in Semester 1, 2 and 3 of each year.

  • Two scholarships will be offered to students commencing their studies in Semester 1, 2010.
  • One scholarship will be offered to a student commencing their studies in Semester 2, 2010.
  • One scholarship will be offered to a student commencing their studies in Semester 3, 2010.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
  • commence their postgraduate studies in the Master of Education program in the semester of scholarship application.

Selection Criteria

It is expected that applicants:

  • have applied for entry into the Master of Education degree program offered by the Faculty of Education
  • provide evidence of sustained commitment to and achievement in academic studies
  • provide evidence of understanding of and enthusiasm for Teaching as a profession
  • have demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning
  • provide evidence of involvement in social service to the community
  • submit a brief statement (maximum one page) providing information relating to how this scholarship will affect applicants financial situation, personal circumstances and academic standing.

Conditions

  • All new applicants for the Master of Education degree are eligible to apply for the scholarships.

The scholarship will be forfeited if:

    • the recipient changes their program of study to a program offered by another Faculty or University 
      Note:  Where a scholarship recipient changes their program of study to another Masters program offered by the Faculty of Education (excluding the Master of Learning and Development), the scholarship will be retained.
    • the recipient cancels their enrolment in the program
    • the recipient fails any course in the program
    • The scholarship will be paid directly to the student via electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $250 per course after the last date to drop courses per semester
    • Exemptions/credit for prior study will not be covered by the scholarship
    • It is expected that students enrol in a minimum of two courses per semester
    • Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances
    • The Faculty reserves the right not to award all or some of the scholarships in a given semester and/or year
    • Applications must be received by the closing date and in writing on the USQ application form provided.
