USQ Toowoomba On-campus Scholarship

USQ will offer two scholarships for students commencing full-time on-campus study at USQ Toowoomba campus in 2012. 

Scholarship value

Each scholarship will have a total value of up to $6,000. This will be paid in a stipend of $250 per study unit for a maximum of four years.

Short-listed applicants who do not receive this scholarship or other scholarships will receive a $500 bursary paid after the last date to drop Semester 1 courses.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
  • start their studies in a bachelor degree program at USQ Toowoomba, full-time (except if exceptional personal circumstances prevent full-time study), on-campus, in Semester 1, 2012.

Conditions

  • Applications must be received by the closing date and in writing on the USQ application form provided.
  • Maximum of six (6) short-listed applicants.
  • The duration of the Scholarship supports four years of a recipient's degree.
  • Scholarship recipients may be asked to participate, for not more than 20 hours, in the year of the receipt of their scholarship, in assisting to promote USQ as required.
  • Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
  • The scholarship will be forfeited if, during the Scholarship period, the recipient:
    • changes their mode of study from on-campus to external, or full-time to part-time study, unless exceptional circumstances prevent full-time study
    • defers their program of study
    • withdraws from study at USQ
    • fails to maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.5.
  • Scholarships are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
  • Two Scholarships will be awarded each year to the applicants deemed most deserving by the Scholarship selection panel.  The decision of the panel is final.
  • USQ reserve the right to alter the conditions of the Scholarship based upon exceptional circumstances.
  • USQ reserve the right to not award either or both Scholarships in a given year.

Payment

  • The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient in a nominated bank account, by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a stipend of $250 per study unit after the Census date (the last date to drop courses for each semester).
  • Payment of subsequent instalments will be subject to satisfactory progress in the recipient's study program.  In this case, recipients may be required to show cause for why the scholarship should not be cancelled.

Selection criteria

Applicants must have:

  • been actively involved in community activities and made a significant contribution to their community or their school
  • a sound level of achievement in Year 12 or post secondary studies
  • meet the eligibility requirements outlined above.
