Ambre Engineering Scholarship

In 2013, USQ will offer one Ambre Engineering Scholarship.

Ambre Energy Limited is an Australian-based mining and technology company embracing new technologies to produce future fuels. Our vision is to provide ever cleaner and more efficient sources of energy to the transportation, steel manufacturing and power generation markets. Ambre Energy is proposing Australia’s first coal-to-liquids project near Pittsworth, which will convert low-value, local coal to unleaded petrol and LPG. It could meet more than 20 percent of Queensland’s demand for these fuels by 2014. Ambre Energy was founded in 2005 and has offices in Brisbane and the USA.

Value

The scholarship will have a maximum value of:

  • $50,000 for a 5 year dual degree 
  • $40,000 for a 4 year single degree

The successful applicant may be offered professional work experience as mutually arranged.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status 
  • have completed Year 12 at Pittsworth State High School or Clifton State High School in 2012 
  • commence their studies in a Bachelor of Engineering or dual degree in Engineering in Semester 1, 2013 
  • be pursuing a major in Electrical & Electronic or Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering 
  • be enrolled at Toowoomba or Springfield Campus 
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in each of Semester 1 and Semester 2 of each year of study 
  • be studying on-campus.

Selection criteria

Applicants will:

  • submit a personal statement indicating: 
    • a description of their career aims and goals 
    • how the Scholarship will assist them to achieve their future career plans 
  • provide evidence of academic achievement eg High School report card 
  • demonstrate a history of involvement within their school, extracurricular activities or within their local community.

Applicants completing their Year 12 studies in 2013 must also attach a Statement of Support (PDF* 162KB) with their application.
