Bursary for Indigenous Psychology Students

In 2013, USQ will offer one Bursary for Indigenous Psychology Students.

Many students experience difficulty with the costs of living and studying. This bursary aims to assist students who experience financial difficulty arising from having limited income (e.g. reliance on Centrelink benefits, caring for others, high medical costs, etc).

Value

The USQ Bookshop bursary will have a maximum value of $750.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must:

  • be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • commence or continue their studies in a Bachelor of Sciences (Psychology), Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Bachelor of Sciences (Honours) in Psychology or Graduate Diploma of Psychological Studies in Semester 1, 2013
  • be enrolled at Toowoomba, Springfield or Fraser Coast Campus
  • be enrolled in up to 4 study units in each of Semester One and Semester Two of each year of study
  • be studying on-campus, external or online.

Selection criteria

Applicants will:

  • submit a personal statement indicating their reasons for wishing to pursue a career in psychology 
  • provide evidence of sustained commitment to and achievement in academic studies 
  • provide evidence of sustained participation in and commitment to community and social service activities 
  • provide evidence of understanding of and enthusiasm for psychology as a profession 
  • demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal and professional learning.

Students commencing study in Semester 1, 2013 must complete the USQ Scholarship Application Form (PDF* 147KB).

Students studying during 2012 must complete the USQ Continuing Students Scholarships Application Form (PDF* 95KB).
