Don and Barbara Stevens Scholarship

USQ will offer one scholarship to an undergraduate student commencing full-time, on-campus study at USQ Toowoomba campus in 2013.

Don Stevens was the Chancellor at USQ for 10 years (1996 - 2006), and he and his wife, Barbara, worked tirelessly to forward the aims and goals of the University. In 2006, the USQ Council voted to create this scholarship in honour of Don and Barbara's dedicated service to the University.

Value

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $15,000.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status 
  • commence their studies in a Bachelor degree in Semester 1, 2013 
  • be enrolled at Toowoomba 
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in each of Semester 1 and Semester 2 of each year of study 
  • be studying on-campus.

Selection criteria

Applicants will:

  • have achieved an OP 1 or 2 (or equivalent for interstate applicants) or have a high level of achievement in other post-secondary studies
  • provide evidence of academic achievement eg High School report card; or post-secondary academic history as applicable
  • demonstrate a history of involvement within their school, extracurricular activities or within their local community.

Applicants completing their Year 12 studies in 2012 must also attach a Statement of Support (PDF* 162KBwith their application.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
