Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (ICAS)

The Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship financially assists Indigenous students on low incomes with higher education costs. This scholarship is aimed at students looking to undertake or already studying full-time undergraduate degrees and associate degrees. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis, and do not need to be repaid. The value of a Commonwealth Scholarship is NOT considered income for Centrelink purposes. The Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship is for Indigenous students from regional and remote areas who need to move away from home to undertake higher education.

Value

$4939 per year for up to four years.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must:

• be Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander descent
• be an Australian Citizen
• be enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or the Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching (GDTL) at USQ
• be from a low income background
• have had to relocate from a regional or remote area in order to undertake study
• be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in the on-campus mode per semester
• not already have completed an award considered equal to or higher than an Australian bachelor's degree, unless now enrolling in the Graduate Diploma of Learning and Teaching.

Preference is given to those student who need to relocate from regional and remote areas.
