St Philomena's Bursary in Education

In 2015 USQ will offer one St Philomena's Bursary in Education to an undergraduate student commencing a Bachelor of Education majoring in Primary Education at USQ Springfield Campus.

This award was created to promote the teaching profession in our local area. St Philomena's School wishes to assist Queensland teaching students and give them an opportunity to excel.


The Bursary will have a maximum value of $2,000.


To be eligible applicants must:

  • be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status 
  • commence their studies in a Bachelor of Education majoring in Primary Education in Semester 1, 2015
  • be entering into the first year of their degree 
  • be enrolled at Springfield Campus 
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 1 study unit in Semester One 
  • be studying on-campus, external or online.

Selection criteria

Applicants will:

  • submit a personal statement indicating: 
    • a description of their career aims and goals
    • how the bursary will assist them to achieve their future career plans 
  • provide evidence of academic achievement, e.g. high school report card or post-secondary academic history, as applicable 
  • reside in South East Queensland and provide evidence of this.

Applicants completing their Year 12 studies in 2014 must also attach a Statement of Support (PDF* 152KB) with their application.

All other applicants must provide a Statement of Support PDF* 162KB signed by either an employer or independent referee.
