USQ Springfield The Bremer Institute of TAFE Bursary

In 2012 USQ Springfield will offer three USQ Springfield–The Bremer Institute of TAFE Bursaries to undergraduate students commencing full-time or part-time on-campus study at USQ Springfield Campus. The Bursary is awarded in the first Semester to a student pursuing a degree in any discipline who has been enrolled in Bremer TAFE in 2011.

Bremer TAFE was selected as the number 1 Australian Large Training Provider of the Year in 2006.

Bursary value

The student who is awarded the Bursary will receive a maximum value of $3,000 over three years of the student’s degree at USQ Springfield. The recipient will receive a maximum of $1,000 per year. This will be paid in one lump sum payment in Semester 1 after the last date to drop Semester 1 courses.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status
  • start their studies in a bachelor degree at USQ, full-time or part-time, on-campus, at USQ Springfield in Semester 1, 2012.

Conditions

  • Applications must be received by the closing date and in writing on the USQ application form provided.
  • Maximum of three (3) short-listed applicants.
  • The duration of the Bursary is for one year.
  • Bursary recipients may be asked to participate, for not more than 5 hours, of the year of receipt of their Bursary, in assisting to promote USQ as required.
  • Recipients may be asked to participate in focus group research.
  • The Bursary will be forfeited if, during the Bursary period, the recipient;
    • changes their mode of study from on-campus to external
    • defers their program of study;
    • withdraws from study at USQ Springfield campus
  • Bursaries are not transferable to other students in any circumstances.
  • Bursaries will be awarded each year to the applicants deemed most deserving by the Bursary selection panel. The decision of the panel is final.
  • USQ reserve the right to alter the conditions of the Bursary based upon exceptional circumstances.
  • USQ reserve the right to not award all or some of the Bursaries in a given year.

Payment

  • The Bursary will be paid directly to the recipient in a nominated bank account, by electronic funds transfer (EFT) as a lump sum payment of $1,000 after the Semester 1 Census date (the last date to drop courses for the Semester).

Selection criteria

Applicants must:

  • provide evidence of enrolment at Bremer TAFE
  • demonstrate academic achievement by receiving a selection entry rank of at least 82, or an OP 10
  • provide evidence of academic achievement, e.g. High School academic transcript or other post-secondary studies as applicable
  • include in their personal statement a description of their career aims and goals
  • demonstrate a history of involvement with their local community in any social, sporting, educational, work based, charitable, extracurricular context
  • must meet the eligibility requirements outlined above
