Head Start courses
Can I enrol in two courses in the same semester?
No. The Head Start program is not designed for studying multiple courses during one semester, because the added workload may disadvantage you in your school studies. Head Start courses are available during Semesters 1, 2 and 3 (‘Summer’). Your first course is free and you will be charged a discounted fee of AUD$395 for any subsequent courses.
For payment deadlines, please refer to key dates.
What if I find the USQ course too difficult?
If you are having difficulty with a course, please contact the Head Start Administrator as early as possible so appropriate steps can be taken to avoid having a 'fail' recorded on your academic record.
The final dates to withdraw from the program without academic penalty (‘census date’) and financial penalty are available in key dates. The USQ Head Start Administrator will remind you about two weeks prior to these dates and check with you on your progress.
Before you make the decision to withdraw, please discuss your circumstances with the Head Start Administrator.
Can I change into a different course after I have applied?
If your circumstances change you may be able to transfer to a different course if places are available, but only if this occurs before the semester commences. Your school will also need to approve your change of course.
What courses are available?
Due to varying commitment levels throughout the year, we recommend that Year 11 students study in Semester 2 and Year 12 students in Semester 1. Check out the Head Start course offerings available:
