Research
We have developed, and are committed to further enhancing our recognised research strengths in the broad areas of biotechnology, crop improvement, biomedical research, natural ecosystems and land use. In addition, the Department continues to support emerging research strengths in climatology, astronomy and atmospheric science. These strengths are demonstrated by the various Research Centres to which members of the Department belong.
Departmental staff and postgraduate students' research interests are encouraged and supported to produce high quality publications. The results of Departmental research are also regularly presented at seminars and workshops on campus.
A wide range of postgraduate programs in a variety of disciplines are offered by the Department and associated Research Centres. The University's Office of Research and Higher Degrees also provides support and information for postgraduate students.
Students are able to access a number of teaching and research facilities, including the Mt Kent Observatory, Ravensbourne Field Centre and the Australian Native Woodland Reserve, established by the Department for education and research purposes.
For further information about the research conducted within the field of biological and physical sciences please contact the Department.
