BNUR students commencing in 2008

The following information is provided to assist you in planning your commencement of the Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-Registration) program.  Please note that students entering into the second year (either for exemptions as an EN, EEN or as a transfer student) may need different information.

Semester 1 2008 Enrolment

It is your responsibility to enrol in courses as soon as possible. This will assist in timetabling for projected numbers in each course.
An enrolment guide is provided to ensure you understand the steps required to complete the enrolment process. Once you are familiar with the steps to enrol, you can enrol online via USQConnect. Please check your enrolment details to ensure they are correct.

Class requirements

The Semester 1 2008 timetable will be posted when available.  The timetable allows you to plan your on-campus requirements in conjunction with your personal commitments. It is developed according to the standard enrolment pattern. You will note that there are times for lectures and tutorials. These sessions are all part of the planned delivery of your program, and your participation and attendance is expected. Please check individual course specifications for information about mandatory attendance requirements, course content, textbooks and  projected on-campus and private study hours.

Courses in the Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-Registration) use tutorial sessions and lab sessions for teaching:

  • every student must be in a tutorial group by week one of the semester
  • students select their preferred tutorial group via the Student Electronic Tutorial System (SETS)
  • for some year levels, students will be placed in the corresponding tutorial group across several courses in a standard progression (eg on the Toowoomba Campus, students selecting group three for NUR1140 will be placed in group three for NUR1120)
  • dates for SETS to open on each campus will be posted when available under ‘Nursing Tutorial Group Registration’ on the Department of Nursing and Midwifery website
  • be sure to click 'SAVE' on any self-selection (it is your responsibility to double check the selection by re-entering the site at a later date)

Studying at university

Orientation

Refer to the USQ Orientation website for information relating to orientation for each campus.

Your transition to university

Bridging courses: Some students find the science component of the Bachelor of Nursing degree at USQ a challenge, particularly if it has been some time since they studied science subjects in high school. The Learning and Teaching Support Unit (LTSU) at USQ offers a two day bridging course in Chemistry at both campuses during semester three to ease this transition.  This is available prior to semester one.  Students who commenced in mid-year  may also take this course prior to studying NUR1500.

If you have any questions relating to student administration, or USQ in general, please contact us.

Textbooks and materials

A list of required text books and resources for each course is listed within the course specifications.
For science courses all students require a white, long sleeved laboratory coat and closed-in shoes.
