Postgraduate research study, within the Faculty of Sciences, is available through:

1.  Research programs by dissertation

The research Doctor of Philosophy program is based solely on the preparation of a dissertation. The Faculty offers postgraduate supervisors (PDF*379KB) in a range of topic areas. Please contact the Deputy Dean (Research) to discuss your proposals for research and options for supervision. 

Applications for the Doctor of Philosophy program may be submitted through the Office of Research and Higher Degrees.

2.  Research programs by dissertation and coursework

The Faculty also offers coursework programs which include dissertation courses (coursework degrees with substantial research components). These programs are:

Faculty Research and Higher Degrees Committee

The Deputy Dean's Office within the Faculty of Sciences provides management and administrative support for the Faculty's research and research degree programs, research and scholarship opportunities and research policies and procedures.

The Faculty's Research and Higher Degrees Committee feeds into the University Research and Higher Degrees Committee which is the central body for research management at USQ. It has the responsibility to evaluate and recommend faculty policies and procedures for the administration and promotion of research and higher degrees within the Faculty and at USQ.

Meetings are held on a bimonthly basis and are chaired by the Deputy Dean (Research), Professor Grant Daggard.  

The meeting Constitution (PDF 91 KB) and R&HD List of Members (PDF 52 KB) is available for staff and students to view and the Postgraduate Student Representative is Mr Xiaoxun Sun. Any items for discussion or consideration that post graduate students may have can be forwarded to this representative in the first instance.
