What happens if it rains?

In the case of inclement weather, the decision to postpone a performance is not made until 6.30pm each night.

In the event of a performance being cancelled, your tickets become valid for subsequent nights.

If however, you are unable to attend a subsequent performance, you will be able to obtain a refund once the season concludes.

Are children welcome and are the shows suitable for children?

Yes, children are welcome at the Shakespeare Festival – some events are more suitable than others for younger audiences though.

  • Richard III is rated M and suitable for audiences 15 years and over
  • To Glee or Not to Glee is rated G and is suitable for the whole family
  • The Shakespeare on Screen films are rated PG (The Goodbye Girl) and M (Richard III)

Is there a dress code?

The Festival site is located in an open-air site on the grassy front oval of the University campus. If you are seeing a production in this venue (Richard III and To Glee or Not to Glee), aim to dress comfortably and bring a jumper and blanket as the evenings do get chilly.

Our Shakespeare on Screen venue is located indoors - so just dress for the movies.

Where should we park?

There are ample parking spaces located within walking distance of all of the Festival venues.

Where is the Festival?

The 2012 Festival is being held at the University of Southern Queensland’s Toowoomba campus located at the southern end of West Street (452).

The mainstage is located on the Front Oval and the Allison Dickson Theatre in located in ‘H’ Block.

Will there be food and drinks available?

You have the option of bringing your own food into the Festival or purchasing from a range of on-site vendors. The site is licensed for BYO alcohol (only) ie you will not be able to purchase alcohol on site.

If you are seeing Shakespeare on Screen, you will be able to purchase popcorn and drinks at the venue both before the show and during interval.

What time does it finish?

Richard III will run for approximately three hours (including an interval).

To Glee or Not to Glee will run for approximately 90 minutes (with no interval).

Shakespeare on Screen is a double bill of 90 films with an interval between the two.

Are there toilets available?

Yes, there are toilet facilities in all of our venues.

Are the actors USQ students?

The actors appearing in this season of Richard III are third-year USQ Creative Arts students.

Is the play in old English?

This production of Richard III is in Shakespearean-speak.
