Set of The TempestThe Shakespeare in the Park Festival sites are located in two of Queensland's most picturesque 'green-spaces'. Each is open-air and designed for an informal theatre experience with the option to sit or picnic.

Bring your picnic blankets and cushions, claim your spot and settle back with glass in hand and enjoy the performance.

Gates open an hour prior to the start of the performance. We recommend you arrive early; choose your patch of grass and setup your picnic just in time to watch the sun disappear behind the trees.

Please remember, this is an outdoor event, so please don't forget to bring a jumper just in case it gets cool and an umbrella or poncho in case of drizzly weather.

Both sites are licensed for BYO alcohol and have a range of on-site vendors selling picnic meals, hot drinks and treats from 5.30pm each night.

  • Toowoomba

The Festival's Toowoomba site is located within the city's spectacular Queens Park, on the cricket-pitch directly behind Frog's Hollow and best accessed from the Hume Street side of the Park.

In 1875 young trees were planted out along broad avenues throughout Queens Park. These trees now create a magnificent oasis close to the heart of the city and are the hub of many city events.

  • Toowoomba - Alternative Indoor Venue
  • Our indoor venue for the final two performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream is Rumours International - located at 323 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba (between Russell Street and Chalk Drive).

The venue has ample off-street parking and is fully licensed - so please no BYO alcohol.

Our food and coffee vendors will be operating in Rumours from 5.30pm each night - so you can purchase meals and hot drinks - or you are most welcome to bring your own picnic dinners.

The Rumours bars will be open from 5.30pm - for alcohol purchase.

You can bring your own blankets and beanbags to setup in front of the stage otherwise, chairs will be provided - no need to bring your own chairs.

    • Fraser Coast

The Festival's Fraser Coast site is located on Seafront Oval at the corner of Main Street and the Charlton Esplanade, Hervey Bay.

The oval, on the foreshore, is the premier venue for outdoor events in the seaside city. It has been home to cultural events, Christmas pageants, sporting clashes, has been a training ground for marching girls and soldiers and was once a gathering place for the traditional owners of the Fraser Coast, the Butchulla people.

From its prime location on the Seafront Oval, the amazing Shakespeare Festival stage dominates the landscape creating a talking point of its own.

Please note:  In the case of inclement weather, the decision to postpone a performance is not made until 6.30pm each night. In the event of a performance being cancelled, tickets become valid for subsequent nights. If however, you are unable to attend a subsequent performance, you will be able to obtain a refund from the ticketing agent once the season concludes.
