Set Designer
Andrew MacDonald
Andrew has a trade background and came to study Visual Arts at the Univeristy of Southern Queensland after almost fifteen years of experience working in mechanics, metal fabrication and furniture making.
He continues to design and build furniture and sculpture, undertake commission work, as well as exhibit nationally and overseas.
His first set design was for The GRID dance company’s end-of-year production at the Empire Theatre in 2011 and, earlier this year, designed the set for USQ's Children's Theatre Week production of A Toby Show.
Andrew has built many of the Shakespeare in the Park Festival sets, and this year, extends his skills to the realm of stage design for the mainstage production of Richard III.
Richard III offers a rich and tangled world from which to draw inspiration, and Andrew is enjoying the challenge of creating an atmospheric haunt for the characters.
