Events

The Office of Social Justice, together with the Social Justice Committee, hosts and sponsors a variety of seminars, workshops and symposiums throughout the year. A number of multicultural events are also conducted by the Multicultural Centre.

2012 3rd Annual USQ Equity & Diversity Seminar

The 3rd Annual Equity & Diversity Seminar will be held on Thursday, 20 September 2012. This year's Program will showcase projects funded from the University's Equity Incentives Fund (EIF) Grant Scheme; a USQ initiative supported by the Commonwealth's Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program (HEPPP).

Presentations will include:

  • Career development in low SES schools 
  • Intercultural competency training to support NESB students
  • Student for a Day - a university experience for Indigenous Year 10 students 
  • Birrbam Buranga Gambay - an Indigenous cultural university experience for primary school children
  • Creative pathways for low SES youth from Cunnamulla, Charleville, St George and Roma

Sponsored events

The Language, Culture and Social Connectedness in our Diverse Landscape Symposium, sponsored by the Office of Social Justice, was held during September 2010 at the USQ Toowoomba campus. This one-day symposium invited teachers, students, researchers and change agents in the community to present their studies of the linguistic, cultural and social variables that impact social connectedness in multi-cultural Australia.
