The Office of Social Justice, together with the Social Justice Committee, hosts and sponsors a variety of seminars, workshops and symposiums throughout the year. A number of multicultural events are also conducted by the Multicultural Centre.
2013 4th Annual USQ Equity & Diversity Seminar
The 4th Annual Equity & Diversity Seminar will be held on Wednesday, 18 September 2013. This year's Program (PDF*863KB) will showcase projects that have contributed towards improvements in the access and participation, retention and success of equity students from low socioeconomic status backgrounds and Indigenous students.
Presentations will include:
- First in Family Students in the Western Downs: a time for a serious rethink
- A model to build aspirations from crayon to career
- Identifying and supporting Permanent Humanitarian Visa (PHV) students at a regional university
- Career Development Western Run
- Embedding a pathways approach for Indigenous secondary school students

The Language, Culture and Social Connectedness in our Diverse Landscape Symposium, sponsored by the Office of Social Justice, was held during September 2010 at the USQ Toowoomba campus. This one-day symposium invited teachers, students, researchers and change agents in the community to present their studies of the linguistic, cultural and social variables that impact social connectedness in multi-cultural Australia.
