Social Justice Report and Plan 2011-2012
The Social Justice Report and Plan 2011-2012 (*PDF 2.7MB) provides an overview of the framework, structure and scope of social justice and equity activities at USQ under the Commonwealth's Higher Education Participation & Partnerships Program (HEPPP) funding scheme. The report also outlines a range of strategies and targets which have been developed in response to the Commonwealth's education reform agenda and recommendations on how to achieve these.
The report recommends that USQ continue to associate its brand and mission to the equity agenda and to fund a number of equity activities, particularly those related to the increase in the participation, retention and success of students from low socio-economic status (SES) backgrounds. To support these students, USQ provides, annually, over $500,000 in equity scholarships and bursaries.
USQ also has established a broad range of long standing equity programs, activities and pathways such as:
Extending this suite of enabling programs, are a number of specialist units, which support and promote student equity and diversity including the Centre for Australian Indigenous Knowledges (CAIK); Student Equity Office; Disability Resources unit; Open Access College and the Multicultural Centre.
The University is committed to the enlightened principles of equity, diversity and social inclusiveness and strives to achieve an environment free from discrimination and harassment through the implementation of a range of equity policies for students and staff.
