Student support

Getting Started

The Student Relationship Officers for each faculty at Springfield are available to help new students settle into and succeed with their studies. Additional support staff and services are also ready to assist you during your journey with USQ.

USQ Springfield student and campus guide

USQ Springfield has produced a Student and Campus Guide (PDF 937KB) which provides new and visiting students with a broad introduction to the Springfield campus. Details are provided on a variety of issues such as campus facilities, student services, information and communication technology services, and local transportation to the campus.

Assignment cover sheet

Unless otherwise advised by the lecturer, all assignments for on-campus courses should be submitted via the Assignment Drop Box on Level 1. This box is located at the front of the USQ Building A, on the left-hand side as you enter.

Assignments must be submitted with an assignment cover sheet.

Academic learning support

USQ Springfield students can receive assistance with communication skills, including assignment writing and study strategies through the Learning and Teaching Support Unit (LTSU). Support is available in the form of lunchtime workshops and lectures that are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Learning Centre on Level Three. There are also individual consultations available every day if you require on-on-one assistance or if you were unable to attend the lunch hour sessions.

Further information

Elite athletes

USQ provides a support service to elite athletes to help them balance their academic and sporting commitments.

External students attending on-campus classes

USQ policy allows external students to attend on-campus lectures, tutorials and workshops if there are adequate teaching and facility resources. At USQ Springfield, there are additional control measures required due to building fire certifications and the requirement to control occupancy.

External students wishing to attend on-campus classes are required to complete the External Student On-Campus Attendance Request Form (PDF 22KB) and return it to the Student Relationship Officer in the faculty responsible for the course:

The form can also be returned by fax or mail.

Students are not to attend on-campus classes unless this form has been completed and their attendance approved.

Child care facilities

The ABC Learning Centre provides a child care facility within Education City for students and staff. Please contact ABC's enrolment centre on 1800 222 543 or complete the ABC Enquiry Form and ensure you mention that you are a USQ Springfield student or staff member.

The Library houses many resources and services to support Springfield students, including online access to thousands of e-books and e-journals. The Library also provides group study rooms, quiet study spaces and a computer lab for student use.
