What is the Industry Experience Program

The USQ Industry Experience Program has been designed to assist students to develop and enhance their skills and knowledge and broaden their understanding of the world of work and career opportunities. The Industry Experience Program is a co-operative partnership between a student, an employer, and the Careers & Employment unit of Student Services.

This program is a practical learning-based work experience program that allows an organisation to employ a student for unpaid work experience up to 30 days over a designated period of time. The purpose is to not only assist the organisation complete short-term projects, but to enhance the students understanding of the industry and employability skills.

What about Insurance

The University of Southern Queensland has entered into a contract of insurance indemnifying the Student and the Industry Experience provider against liability for personal injury or property damage suffered by the Student, the Industry Experience provider or another person arising out of the work experience.

  • Receive training in job application procedures (e.g., information interviewing, resume writing, addressing selection criteria, and interview skills) via workshops, information sheets, and/or individual information session(s) provided by Careers & Employment staff.

How to Apply

The employer and the student are required to complete an Industry Experience Placement Contract and an outline of the objectives and duties of the placement (refer to the Industry Experience Manual).  As this is a learning based activity, both employers and employees are required to evaluate the learning outcomes from the placement and the generic employability skills that the student possesses.

Students wishing to register interest to participate in the Industry Experience Program simply complete the student expression of interest form and email to Rebecca Vale.

Employers wishing to register interest to participate in the Industry Experience as a potential host organisation simply complete the employer expression of interest form and email to Rebecca Vale.
