Assistive technology and equipment

The Technical support team within Disabilty Resources is responsible for the providiosn of alternative formatting of study materials fro students with a print disability. The team also manage the assistive technologies and equipment available at each of the campuses.

Alternative Formatting

The most commonly commonly requested alternatives are the provision of electronically formatted materials on CD. Students with print disabilities should discuss the supply of learning materials in other formats with Disability Resources staff as early as possible , but no later than 4 weeks prior to the start of semester. Requests can be made after this time, however we may not be able to guarantee that they will be available for week one of semester.

Assistive Technology and Equipment

Registered students with disabilties may request short term loans of specialist software/equipment such as voice recorder, text to speech recorders, AV transmitter/receiver, TTY phone and FM Hearing loops. Once the equipment has been trialled and assessed as appropriate to their needs, students can be provided with trainin to effectively use the assistive technology.
