Examination adjustments

USQ demonstrates flexibility in delivery of assessment methods for students with disabilities. Each students needs will be different depending on the format of their relevant exams and this will be discussed with you during your registration.

Disability Resources will negotiate on your behalf to achieve a reasonable offer of accommodations ensuring you have an equitable opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and learning.

Some common adjustments include

  • extra time and rest breaks
  • use of a scribe or reader
  • permission to medicate during an exam
  • alternative formatting
  • use of special furniture

Special examination adjustments

Special exam adjustments require the approval of lecturers so that academic standards are maintained. For this reason they cannot be guaranteed, but every effort will be made to achieve an approval or to negotiate a reasonable offer of exam accommodations such as

  • morning exams
  • home exams
  • rescheduling of exam dates
  • use of prompt sheets
  • use of a computer
  • modified assessments

Students who require a reschedule of an exam date will be required to sign a statutory declaration declaring that they won't discuss the exam with any other person involved in the course, therefore providing or obtaining an unfair advantage.

Changing current exam adjustments

The Examinations Office will mail an assessment notice advising students of when and where their exam will take place as well as listing all exam accommodations. Students can also access their assessment advice via UConnect. It is important that you check the notice and contact us immediately if there is anything that you feel is wrong or not properly recorded.

Students should contact Disability Resources if they feel their exam accommodations should be reviewed.

Mid Semester Examinations

Students are entitled to receive their recommended exam accommodations for all assessments. To ensure that arrangements can be put in place accordingly, students should

  • be registered with Disability Resources
  • make contact with us at least 3 weeks prior to the exam.
