Technical support and resources

Students who require access to these facilities, will be givenapproval to  access the areas during their initial appointment with the Disability Resources staff.

Location and bookings

Toowoomba  Campus

The Assistive Technology Room, is located within the Library in R321, Toowoomba campus.  Access must be approved by the Coordinator, Disability Resources and bookings can be arranged at the circulation desk of the library, telephone + 61 7 4631 2471.

The room is equipped with the following resources:

  • Electrically operated height adjustable tables
  • Computers are equipped with the following software
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking V9 - speech recognitiion software.
  • WYNN - Literacy software and Zoom Text - screen magnification software.
  • JAWS - Screen reading software
  • Broad sheet CCTV
  • Network printer (student quotas apply)
  • ScannaR document reader
  • MyReader document text enlarger 
  • Internal USQ telephone access #1210

Study Room ( Toowoomba Campus)

The study room is located in R142 in the mall of R Block. Access is only available to registered students with a disability when accompanied by a disability support worker.The room is equipped with a computer on a manually height adjustable desk and software will be installed as required. Internal USQ telephone access is available - # 2760.

Bookings for the room are arranged through Student Services Reception or phoning +6 17 4631 2749. 

Technical Support Room (Toowoomba Campus)

Location and access

The Technical Support Room is located at L212 on the same level as Student Services in G block, Toowoomba campus. Students can only access the room when technical support staff are available.

The room is equipped with:

  • Text reformatting facilities Training in the use of assistive technologies
  • Day loan of support equipment such as Digital voice recorders,TTS (text to speech) recorders,FM Hearing loops and AV transmitter/receivers.
  • TTY phone

Fraser Coast

The Assistive Technology Room is located  in the Learning Support Centre, A Block. An electrically operated height adjustable table and a dedicated computer for student with disabilities are available.  Software will be installed as requested by the Counsellor.

Additionally USQ has installed a CCTV for use by students with a print disability in the Municipal Library.

Springfield

A dedicated space has been allocated to Assistive Technology within the Library (*PDF 309 k)  at the Springfield Campus. Equipment will be introduced as requested by the Counsellor, Springfield campus.
