Getting OSHC
You need OSHC if you are:
- an international student, who is
- the holder of a student visa; OR
- applying for a student visa, as they intend to
- study in Australia for a period of 3 months or more.
The Australian Government requires all international students to obtain and maintain Overseas Student Health Cover for the entire duration of their student visa. Students are required to purchase an Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) policy, from a registered OSHC provider, approved by the Department of Health and Ageing.
Your OSHC membership is initiated by USQ and our preferred provider, OSHC Worldcare, when you return an Acceptance of Offer with payment of:
- your first semester tuition fees (as a minimum) and;
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the length of your visa.
Students receive information about obtaining their OSHC Worldcare membership cards during Orientation at USQ.
You do not need OSHC if you are:

If you plan to study at USQ and meet our acceptance of offer and fee payment requirements, your initial OSHC will be arranged by USQ with our preferred provider, OSHC Worldcare, unless you specify that you wish to obtain OSHC from a different provider. The University has no relationship with any other government approved OSHC providers and cannot accept payment from students for any provider other than OSHC Worldcare. However, students can insure with any other OSHC provider by contacting them directly as listed below:
