FAQ - OSHC
I have not received my membership card
To get a membership card, OSHC Worldcare needs to have your current postal address. You can update your personal details with OSHC Worldcare online or see the OSHC representative at Student Services, G Block (Toowoomba campus).
My personal details are recorded incorrectly (eg: Family name, Given name, Date of Birth)
To get your personal details changed on your policy you will need to provide evidence to OSHC Worldcare, such as a certified copy of your passport data page. Toowoomba campus students can obtain assistance from the OSHC Worldcare Representative located at Student Services, G Block ( Toowoomba campus). Current hours can be obtained from Student Services (G Block) or by phoning (07) 4631 2372.
Springfield and Fraser Coast campus students can obtain assistance directly from OSHC Worldcare by telephoning 13 OSHC (13 67 42) OR submitting a request for assistance online.
It may also be worth checking your personal details recorded on your USQ Student Record through UConnect. If these details are incorrect, update your current details and see your Worldcare representative with your passport or a certified copy of your passport data page, so we can ensure your details are altered.
How do I lodge a claim?
OSHC Worldcare provides three options for students wishing to obtain reimbursement for medical expenses covered under their OSHC policy including online (paid and unpaid accounts), post (paid and unpaid accounts) and Toowoomba on-campus OSHC Worldcare representative (paid accounts only).
Students who have paid their medical expenses will receive reimbursement from OSHC Worldcare by: Australia Post voucher that is redeemable for cash from any Australia Post office, a Direct Debit deposit into your nominated bank account or cheque mailed to your nominated residential address. When students submit unpaid accounts, the reimbursement will be forwarded directly to the medical provider or services. Some medical practices/services may charge more than the benefit payable, in which case members are required to pay the gap fee or co-payment at the time of service.
How long does it take to receive money back from a claim?
A lot depends on whether you submit a claim - in person, online or by post. OSHC Worldcare has an information sheet named Easy Claiming (PDF 346KB) which provides comprehensive information on claims and timelines.
I arrived in Australia under a single policy cover - how do I add my dependants?
Please contact OSHC Worldcare to upgrade your policy to family. Payment must accompany your request to change from single to family cover. If payment does not accompany your upgrade, your OSHC cover will be shortened - this could leave you at risk of not having OSHC if a medical incident arises with you or one of your family members and you will be in breach of your student visa. Please check your new expiry date when you receive membership cards.
How do I claim for prescription medicines?
OSHC Worldcare understand many students require clear information on making claims and have developed an information sheet How to claim for prescription medicines (PDF 309KB).
Can I have additional insurance and upgrade basic cover to OSHC Student Plus?
OSHC Worldcare Student Plus is an affordable and tailored extras cover, designed for International students studying in Australia. OSHC Worldcare Student Plus will cover you for some health services not covered by your basic OSHC Worldcare policy, such as dental, optical, physiotherapy, chiropractic and osteopathic services. Further information, including product information is available from OSHC Worldcare Student Plus through Lysaght Peoplecare.
