Immunisation
USQ Health Services, Toowoomba Campus is able to provide medical consultations on the following:
- all aspects of travel including vaccine requirements, travel medical needs, documentation and advice on disease prevention and health promotion while abroad
- immunisation requirements for nursing courses.
Swine Flu Vaccination (H1N1 Influenza Vaccine)
The free Panvax vaccine (Pandemic H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu) Vaccine) is now available in most medical centres.
Many hospitals and other health facilities are running vaccination clinics, in addition students can contact their usual general practitioner or the USQ Toowoomba Health Service. The USQ Health Service (in Toowoomba) is running limited vaccination clinics on campus for USQ students. Please phone + 61 7 4631 2386 or visit Student Services in G block to make enquiries about attending one of these clinics.
All people can get vaccinated but some people are more at risk of severe outcomes if they catch this flu. Vaccination is strongly recommended for:
- Pregnant women
- Parents and guardians of infants up to six months old
- People with underlying chronic conditions, including: heart disease; asthma and other lung diseases; cancer; diabetes; kidney disease; neurological disease; other chronic conditions (talk to your GP)
- People who are severely obese
- Indigenous Australians
- Frontline health workers
- Community care workers

Travel advice and immunisations
The Campus Nurse, Toowoomba Campus is available to discuss which vaccines will need to be obtained for any proposed travel. It will be necessary to provide information concerning: destination(s); time of departure; length of stay; type of accommodation; rural or city travel; previous immunisations. Stocks of most vaccines required are maintained and if not, a script can be written and filled at a chemist. All work related travel immunisations for USQ Staff can be attended to at the Health Service. Staff are asked to speak to Medical Reception about procedures for payment. Special vaccines for specific work related occurrences such as rabies for people working with bats can be organized through the Health Service, Toowoomba.
Nursing students
All vaccines required to fulfil immunisation requirements for nursing courses can be obtained at the Health Service. The Nursing Immunisation Record (PDF 123 kb) for students provides a record of immunisations received.
