Academic information
The following academic support is available for AusAID students:
Introductory Academic Program (IAP)
The Introductory Academic Program is a compulsory four week intensive program which aims to assist students to familiarise themselves with USQ's academic protocol and procedures and focuses on basic skills necessary for a smooth transition into study.
English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)
Intensive English Language programs are available to AusAID students who have not met the required English language proficiency requirement of IELTS 6 - 6.5. Students from Vietnam may be required to undertake in-Australia PCE but are not required to re-sit the IELTS test.
Academic support services
A number of academic support services are available from The Learning Centre to AusAID students at no cost. This method of academic support, in addition to attending all lectures and scheduled tutorials, must be utilised prior to requesting additional assistance, such as the supplementary academic support fund.
Supplementary Academic Support
AusAID students may apply for supplementary academic support where one-on-one tutorial assistance, thesis editing (but not word processing) or group tutorials with other ADS students is deemed by the Course lecturer and International Student Support Officer, as being essential to the student's success.
Academic Monitoring and progress reports
The International Student Support Officer is required to report the academic progress of all AusAID ADS students at USQ, to AusAID, each semester. All AusAID students are required to complete an Academic Progression Review - AusAID Scholarship (DOC 179 kb) / Academic Progression Review - AusAID Scholarship (PDF 47 kb) form immediately following the release of academic results.
Students that have passed all courses in the current semester can submit the completed form directly to the International Student Support Officer electronically to: iss@usq.edu.au or by submitting it to Reception, Student Support, Ground Floor, B block, Toowoomba campus.
Students that have failed or incomplete courses in the current semester must book an appointment with their Faculty Program Coordinator within 5 days of results being released. The Academic Progression Review - AusAID Scholarship form must be completed and either emailed to the Faculty Program Coordinator or brought with you to your appointment.
