Research

USQ is a leading provider of research to address rural and regional issues affecting southern Queensland. Key areas include:

  • engineering in agriculture and related environmental areas to improving the profitability, environmental sustainability and socio-economic wellbeing of our rural industries, their natural resource base, and the manufacturing and service sectors which support them
  • the sustainable management of natural resources and connections with communities within our catchments
  • spatial modelling tools to support the development of sustainable land and water management
  • health-related research and training in rural and remote communities for the benefit of the community and the health workforce
  • learning and teaching across the full spectrum of human development from early childhood, through primary, secondary and tertiary education, to lifelong learning; and
  • accelerating the industrial and commercial utilisation of sustainability innovation.

The University is also evaluating investments in new research strengths to meet the emerging challenges of the Surat Basin and south-west Queensland developments.
